Post Prom Party a Magical Success

I had a great time entertaining last night, or should I say, this morning at 3:00AM for a great bunch of High School students at their post prom lock in event. The sound of laughter from over 200 high school students was a delight to hear.

The key to success in show biz or any other business is repeat and referral clients. This year was my14th time visiting this school and I always have a great time with the students.  The magic and mystery wows them and the comedy gets them laughing for a solid hour and 20 minutes. They are already preparing to re- book for next year. I love to bring laughs and have satisfied clients.

I stay very busy with my comedy and magic and I enjoy performing for business groups as well as for family parties. I also love to bring my clean comedy to high school age people and watch their faces light up in amazement.  I have ove 28 years of experience bringing laughter to events and I can tailor the program to fit the audience demographic.  Check out my site… MagicNorm.com

Comedy Magic in Winnipeg

This past week I was a featured performer and M.C. at at convention in Winnipeg, Canada.  It was a blast entertaining and teaching classes for this fun group of family entertainers and performers. These entertainers are always looking for something new to add to their shows for family parties and special events so they were very positive in their response to my magic classes.

it was fun to be the M.C. for two of the shows here. I also M.C. for the kick off event.  The way I do M.C. work for this group involved doing some longer 2-3 minute bits between contestants in their international contest.  I bring lots of stand up comedy as well ans magic and some prop gags.   The people were very enthusiastic and kind in their comments after.

This group was also very appreciative of the comedy magic classes that I taught.  I share many original routines and magic tricks.  I have invented many tricks and it is fun to hear other entertainers say, “I like that, and I want to add it to my show!”  My classes recieved many great reviews fromthe participants.

I have worked this convention more than 7 times and always enjoy bringing some smiles to the attendees each time.  I look forward to entertaining at your next event or convention.

Minnesota Twins Great Tony Oliva

Lots of people lined up to get an autograph from Tony Oliva great player for the Minnesota Twins. I am fortunate to have a very fun job. I was invited to entertain those in line with my comedy magic and strolling entertainment. When the line ended I was able to get an autograph from Mr. Oliva too. Tony is a great guy and was so kind to the many fans.

Hundreds of people waited up to an hour in line for their opportunity to meet the former Minnesota Twins player. It was very fun to share my magic and comedy with these families.

Baseball season has started again and the new Target Field is going to be a place where many more memories are made.

Sheila Raye Charles and David Meese Concert

Shelia Raye Charles Magic Norm backstage after a show they did together

David Meese will brought his excellent music to Cambridge on April 10th and along with him were the stirring songs of Shelia Raye Charles, daughter of Ray Charles.

I got to work with Sheila Raye Charles a couple times last year and the above photo was taken backstage at one of the events.  She is a gifted singer and a very good song writer. We had a great time together and I look forward to performing with her again.

Stevie Ray’s Improv Comedy

One of my joys is to attend improvisation classes.  It is such a good exercise of the mind and it helps in my comedy writing.  I’ve studied with the Stevie Ray Troupe for over 15 years. Ste4vie comes from Chicago’s Second City production and is a very amazing talent as a improv artist or as a stand up comic.

Tonight I had a very fun session with the group and look forward to more this spring. The Stevie Ray Troupe has many free summer events in the parks and this summer they plan to be at Minnehaha Park in Minneapolis for shows on many Sundays throughout the summer. They also are planning to open a new theater as a part of the Chanhassen Dinner Theater. Check Chanhassen for tickets and times. This is a excellent opportunity to laugh like crazy at some of the best improvisation artists in the country.

Family Dance at the Media Entertainment Center

Comic Magician - Magic Norm

It is fun to bring smiles and laughter to families. Recently I had the opportunity to once again present my comedy and magic at the Medina Entertainment Center for their annual family Dance.  I’ve worked this event a couple times before and it is a blast.

Chopper the DJ spins the hits and leads the kids in the Limbo, Hoola Hooping and dance contests. No dance party is complete without the twist and the Hokey Pokey.  Moms and Dads even had their own contest and the kids cheered them on. At one point  Chopper the D.J. led the group in a fun train song that had a line of kids stretched  across the huge dance floor at the Medina Ballroom.  I enjoy working at this fun event and the families always have a great time.

The Medina is a a great place for a game of bowling and I enjoyed this with my daughter before the event.

I enjoy watching the kid’s faces light up in amazement at the comedy magic and then watch the parents react to the look of wonder on the kid’s faces.  What  is really fun for me is to wait a moment or two and then see the parent’s faces light up as they find themselves scratching their heads and wondering how the magic tricks work. This is a double fun moment as the parents often say that they thought the tricks were for the kids and they find themselves just as amazed.

That is OK.  Magic fun for grown ups too. It is good to feel the sense of wonder and be like a 4th grader again!  That is what comedy and magic are all about.

I do many events for company banquets and events where there are no kids. Corporate groups love the magic and comedy fun too. I enjoy bringing laughs and a sense of wonder to special events. We are now booking company picnics for the summer. Check it all out at: MagicNorm.com.

Call for a fun Magician in Minnesota.

Speaking in Singapore

Later this year I will give several lectures in Singapore to magicians and entertainers. I am thrilled to be invited to speak on magic and comedy and to teach some of my inventions and innovations.  I also speak on comedy technique and theatrical skills that help add comedy to the act.

For those of you living in the United States, tonight’s TV episode of “The Great Race” takes place in Singapore. (In the midwest this show appears at 7PM.)  I wanted to share with you this news and a bit about one of the things you’ll see on this show. What the previews show is that the center of the action will take place at the 541 feet tall, Singapore Flyer-the world’s largest observation wheel. From a website I’ve copied the following:

“Unlike ferris wheels with their cramped carriages which hang in open air, Singapore Flyer and other giant observation wheels such as the London Eye feature fixed capsules.

Also, each Singapore Flyer capsule is about the size of a bus and can carry up to 28 people. Passengers are able to walk around and enjoy the views outside without feeling any movement or vibration at all.” This ferris wheel is just one of the remarkable attractions in Singapore.

I enjoy teaching and coaching other magicians and entertainers and helping them to develop their acts.  I also learn so much by attending these seminars. Experts from around the world will also be teaching at this event in Singapore and I am excited to be encouraged by them.
